Leadership Positions

Finance Director

Position Purpose: The Finance Director provides strategic financial leadership to ensure the long-term stability and sustainability of Elkhart Christian Academy by overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and risk management. They serve as a trusted advisor to the Superintendent, School Board, and Finance Committee, aligning financial resources with the school’s mission and strategic priorities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management
• Maintain accurate financial records and oversee accounting operations, internal controls, and financial reporting monthly.
• Review monthly financial statements and provide analysis to school leadership and Superintendent.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, debt obligations, investment accounts, and tuition management systems (e.g., FACTS is tuition management system , BAIRD is investment account company, Quickbooks).
• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the school’s mission and long-term goals.
• Prepare multi-year financial forecasts, budgets, and cash-flow analyses.

Budgeting & Operations
• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Superintendent, Finance Committee, and department heads.
• Managed and supported the Indiana Choice Scholarship application process, including verifying eligibility documentation, and ensuring accurate and timely submission to the Department of Education.
• Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend adjustments.
• Evaluate financial operations to increase efficiency, support growth, and optimize resource stewardship.
• Oversee tuition billing, collections, and financial aid programs, including SGO accounts and scholarship awards.
• Provide financial framework for tuition planning, scholarships, and enrollment initiatives.
• Support advancement and fundraising efforts by analyzing revenue opportunities.

Risk Management & Compliance
• Oversee risk management policies, including insurance, general liability, and worker’s comp.
• Maintain employee handbook and contractual obligations to ensure compliance.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, IRS requirements, accreditation standards, and school policies; coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
• Recommend policies and procedures to safeguard school assets and ensure sound fiscal practices. 
• Prepare 1099 yearly as needed.

Board & Committee Engagement
• Serve as staff liaison to the Finance Committee and the School Board.
• Communication to superintendent for approval prior to board and finance committee.
• Prepare and present clear, concise financial updates, statements, and reports to Finance Committee and the School Board.
• Advise on strategic financial decisions and investment portfolio management.

Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field (CPA, MBA, or equivalent preferred).
• 4+ years of senior-level financial management experience; nonprofit or education experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• High integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style.

Part-Time Nurse

Employment schedule: 10 month Part-Time
Evaluation: Annual
Reports to: Head Nurse/Principals
Supervises: Students
Compensation: Hourly
Position Purpose: The school nurse will be responsible for the healthcare of students during school hours. They will need to administer
prescription medications as well as over the counter medications to students when necessary. They will administer care to injured students, as well as monitor students who become ill during school hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilizing existing resources to provide appropriate healthcare to students and staff by evaluating them when
they complain of specific ailments.
• Monitor and dispense prescription medications based on instructions from parents and HCP’s
• Call parents to suggest they pick up students who might be uncomfortable or who might have developed a
contagious illness
• Contact parents and teachers with any medical emergency
• Maintain files on each student’s health and medical history by documenting when a student is treated in the
Nurse’s office
• Assessing the status of student immunization documentation and when necessary, adding to the computer
documentation based on CHIRP or doctor’s records.
• Promoting an optimal level of wellness among students and staff by providing preventative healthcare services
along with educating students on hand washing, germs and other health issues.
• Developing and implementing health plans for students with specific health needs.
• Carrying out health assessments and screening for deficits in vision, hearing, growth, and/or development of
students.
• Planning and implementing school health management protocols and procedures, especially for emergency
situations.
• Providing referrals, to parents or staff, for intervention and remediation of abnormal or worrying health
conditions affecting students.
• Providing ongoing health counseling to students, parents, and staff.
• Completing medical paperwork, when necessary.
• Attending various school meetings.
• Assist in teaching CPR to the Health class.
• Consult with teachers, staff and administrators regarding student care.

Position Qualifications:
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Indiana
• Knowledge of many areas of health including mental health
• Knowledge of school laws and policies
• Ability to work independently or with others
• Ability to communicate well with others
• Ability to assess situations and act quickly
• BLS/CPR certification
• Knowledge of state health regulations
• Ability to multitask
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Wonderful bedside manner

Physical Demands
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch
• Must be able to lift items of 20 lbs. regularly/50 lbs. occasionally

Part-Time Bus Driver

Reports to: Transportation
Compensation: Hourly

Postion Purpose:
The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of students to and from school,
extracurricular activities, and other events as needed. This position ensures a secure riding environment by following all
traffic laws, district policies, and safety regulations while maintaining order and appropriate student behavior on the bus.
The Bus Driver also performs routine vehicle inspections, reports maintenance concerns, and serves as a positive
representative of ECA through professional interaction with students, staff, and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Drive established route(s) and designated stops.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspection of assigned vehicle.
• Obey all traffic laws to ensure students arrive to their destination safely.
• Must have a flexible schedule as hours are not limited to school day hours.
• Be willing to perform drug test to be hired, and as randomly selected by the State of Indiana.
• Maintain order, safety and discipline on bus.
• Have the ability to conduct emergency evacuation when required.
• Keep accurate records and reports as required.
• Be alert and exercise good judgment on day to day operations and potential emergencies.
• Maintain a clean bus and report any defects and/or maintenance and/or safety concerns to transportation
director.
• Have a team player mindset and communicate with department leaders and personnel.

Position Qualifications
• Must have current driver’s license and be at least 21 years old.
• Must have or capable of acquiring bus driver’s license or permit (CDL), specifically Class B and obtain “P” and
“S” endorsements.
• Must maintain a safe driving record
• Someone who is friendly, can demonstrate patience and enjoys children and young adults
• Proven work experience as a School Bus Driver or similar role
